Global Innovation Conference Hack Osaka 2015

How to be unique and to develop
“Original Innovation Ecosystem”
and startups.

Although it is a well-known fact that Silicon Valley is the place where leading innovation occur, the whole world is now beginning to set up individual environment for innovation creation in each place making the most of their own assets such as industry and human resources, not just imitating the pioneer.
In our conference program, we will introduce ecosystem building activities in various areas with their latest trends, and discuss what Osaka can learn from what they focus on to pursue global innovation having their strong point and weakness.

Hannes Graah(Director,Spotify Japan)

ハネス グラーSpotify is the world’s largest music streaming service with 50m users worldwide. Hannes, who joined the company in early 2011, was previously responsible for Spotify’s headquarter operations, based in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to Spotify, he managed a variety of global brands at Procter & Gamble.

Khailee Ng (Managing Partner,500Startups)

Khailee NgKhailee Ng is Managing Partner at 500 Startups. His focus areas include global expansion, managing the Southeast Asian fund, and building bridges between emerging markets and Silicon Valley.
Born and raised in Malaysia, he started creating web products at age 15. By the age of 30, he built a news company (now listed in the Malaysian stock exchange as REV Asia) and e-commerce company GroupsMore (acquired by Groupon). He hopes to create tomorrow’s game-changing companies by providing people from anywhere in the world with equal access to global resources and opportunities.

Ari Horie (Founder & CEO of Women’s Startup Lab)

Women’s Startup Lab which was founded in 2013, is a unique Silicon Valley venture which seeks to unleash the power of women to become world class leaders. Tim Romero(founder, investor, podcaster, author)

Tim RomeroTim is a Tokyo-based innovator, author, and entrepreneur who has started several companies since coming to Japan in 1994. Tim is deeply involved in Japan’s startup community as a writer, investor and mentor, and hosts the Disrupting Japan podcast.

Tim was former Japan Representative Director of Engine Yard, the world’s leading cloud application management company, which enables developers to innovate more rapidly, easily and cost effectively.

Ikuo Hiraishi(President & CEO of SunBridge Global Ventures Inc.)

Ikuo HiraishiSerial entrepreneur & startup accelerator. Started Internet related business in the late 1990 and participated in the establishment of Web crew Inc.(Listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers in 2004) and co-founded and became the CEO of Interscope, Inc. (sold off to Yahoo! JAPAN in 2007). Then turned as an accelerator and co-founded SunBridge Global Ventures Inc. in 2012. Conducting his work to globalize startup ecosystem in Japan with strong professional vigor.

Results from last year

Hack Osaka 2014 was held to discuss IoT (Internet of things) with a view to find connections between industries in Osaka and innovation around the world welcoming more than 300 participants.


Pictures and movies filmed during this whole event will be used for sending information, and reports in the media are also anticipated. Please understand and realize that your image can be included in articles, footage and so forth. All the participants are considered to have agreed on this matter in advance. This conference will be held in English basically. (Simultaneous translation is available.)
