For the fourth seminar of W-SHIFT project, a lecture will be given by Kazumasa Miyamoto, President of Saraya East Africa Co., Ltd. and representant of the Non-Profit Organisation “AISUD” (Agriculture Innovations for Sustainable Development – Uganda).
At the local corporation in East Africa of Saraya Co., Ltd., a chemical manufacturer founded in 1952 which produces detergent, soaps and so on, Miyamoto engages in supportive activities “SARAYA Wash Hands Project of One Million People” to promote “wash hands” movements by UNICEF in Uganda. He is also trying to make it common to use locally-produced alcohol hand antiseptics among health care workers. In this seminar, the real situation in Republic of Uganda and the difficulties he faces in social contribution through business will be revealed.

Kazumasa Miyamoto, President, Saraya East Africa Co., Ltd.
After graduating from an university in the United States of America, Mr. Miyamoto worked for two years for the Consulate-General of Japan in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He was then sent by the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) in the Republic of Uganda. During his stay, he established the Non-Profit Organisation “AISUD” (Agricultural Innovations for Sustainable Development) to support small villages’ development.
After the end of his mandate, he stayed in Uganda and, while laying down the foundations of a Microfinance project as a representant of AISUD, he continued to engage in small villages’ development. In 2011, he established “Saraya East Africa Co., Ltd”, of which he is the onsite representative.
