Consortium for Osaka Startup Ecosystem Established

The Consortium for Osaka Startup Ecosystem was established on October 31st 2019 for the purpose of increasing startup support across all sectors. It consists of 30 organizations and individuals, including three local governments, three economic organizations, six universities, four support organizations, five banking organizations, three venture capital firms, three real estate developers, and three key persons that are startup support experts.

The meeting was attended by the Governor of Osaka Prefecture and the Mayor of Osaka City as well as Mr. Junzo Tateno, President of Osaka Business Development Association, and Mr. Hiroshi Ozaki, Chairman of Osaka Chamber of Commerce Industry.

During the opening remarks of the meeting, Mr. Tateno stated that Osaka has become one team aiming for the goal of securing the designation of Osaka as a Global Gateway City (“スタートアップ・エコシステム拠点都市” in Japanese) from the Japanese Government (Cabinet Office). Also he introduced participants to the motto of Mr. Shinjirou Torii, the founder of Suntory and one of Osaka’s most famous businessmen. His motto was “Yatte minahare,” which means “Go ahead and try” with a spirit of bold ambition. Our team would like to continue in this sprit and help entrepreneurs and startup companies to grow, with the associated idea of “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
